Yin Yoga, Mantras and Chakra Meditation

1.5 hours

6.30pm - 8pm

Enjoy a blissful 1.5 hours of completely letting go with this introduction to tantra combined with yin yoga poses.

We are always so busy doing and holding on to everything that we forget how to just be. While we are engaging with the outside world we are also accumulating karma which causes congestion in our physical, astral and causal bodies. We start to feel heavy and depressed because we are carrying around emotions and traumas from our past while worrying about what the future holds.

Most of us know that meditation can help clear all this baggage but finding the time is never easy and it’s almost impossible to fit in a regular practice!

That’s why I have created this immersive two hour inner transformation session where you have the space to completely LET GO!

This is no ordinary yoga and meditation class - yes we practice some very gentle yin postures to help open the body (if you wish - you can also just lie or sit in meditation) but mostly the focus is on tantric practices to help you discover the infinite potential within you so you can prosper in every aspect of your life.

Tantra

There is a misconception in the west that Tantra is just about sex but really it’s so much more than that. In its essence, tantra is about acknowledging that we cannot separate the material from the spiritual and there is no desire that is inherently good or bad. Rather than feel guilty and consider ourselves as sinful we embrace all aspects of our human nature and use them to help us to realise the divinity within us. Rather than wait for an afterlife, the tantric tradition sees the physical world which we live in as heaven, that we can become awakened in this lifetime and it’s accessible to all, not just the yogis that live in caves in the Himalayas.

In Sanskrit the word tantra is composed of two words, ‘tan’ which means to expand or stretch and ‘tra’ which means, ‘that which protects.’ One of the main premises of tantra is that no matter who we are there will always be some limitations of our awareness as we all have our own unique perceptions of the world. When we engage in tantric practices we aim to expand your consciousness. Another interpretation of the word tantra is ‘to weave’. Tantra also refers to the various techniques and philosophies we can use such as mantras, rituals, mudras, yantras and breathing and awareness techniques to help us weave spirituality into the aspects that make us human. Through such practices we are able to awaken the divine force within us - Kundalini Shakti - this is the goal of tantra and once awakened we are able to achieve whatever goal you seek.

In this session you will participate in a blend of tantric practices to help awaken these dormant energies within you. Kundalini Shakti resides at the base of the spine at the perineum in muladhara chakra and once awakened travels through the main chakras that run along the spine all the way to the third eye where the energy reunites with shiva consciousness.

The Chakras

There are said to be over 114 chakras however there are six important ones that run up the spine and one just above the head that acts as a portal for consciousness and energy to come into the body. Chakra literally translates as ‘wheel’ however in the tantric tradition they are known as padmas or lotus flowers that blossom as energy moves from the bottom of the shushumna to the top. When all six of the chakras have been opened, energy is free (ayama) to reach the highest chakra, and liberation is possible. Yes that means even you can reach enlightenment!

As you awaken each chakra you evolve from your instinctual animal nature to nurturing your compassionate human nature until you eventually transcend into the divine realms where you lose the ego completely.

As the chakras are awakened through the tantric practices we are able to consciously cultivate energy (prana) from the environment and redirect it to flow within the central channel (shushumna nadi) that runs from the base of the spine and over the top of your head to the third eye to open the chakras.

During the session I will be chanting sanskrit madras that are embedded with energy to help awaken each chakra. You are welcome to join in however as this is just an introduction you will benefit just from allowing the energy of the words to absorb into each chakra.
